Man Falls into Abandoned Well, Villagers Mistake It for Ghost

Man Rescued After Falling into Well for Three Days

A GHOST? – A 22-year-old Chinese man, Liu Chuanyi, fell into an abandoned well in a forest along the Thailand-Myanmar border.

For three days, he remained trapped at the bottom of the 12-meter-deep well, crying for help, but no one came to his aid. Villagers nearby heard his cries but mistakenly believed they were the wails of a ghost that haunted the forest, a place rarely visited by locals.

On November 24, 2024, local authorities in Mae Sot, Tak province, received reports of strange crying sounds coming from the forest. The villagers, unable to understand the noise, assumed it was the work of a supernatural being. Police and rescue teams were sent to investigate, using megaphones to trace the source of the cries. They eventually heard Liu’s desperate cries for help and discovered him trapped in the well.

Rescue teams took 30 minutes to pull Liu out of the well. He was weak, with a fractured left hand, head injuries, and bruises all over his body. After receiving first aid, he was rushed to the hospital.

Through a translator, Liu shared that he had been trapped for three days without food or water. To conserve his energy, he shouted for help once an hour. The villagers, who had been hearing the strange sounds for three days, noted that the cries were louder at night. They didn’t understand the language and assumed it was a ghost, which caused them to avoid going out after dark. It wasn’t until one villager thought to report the sounds to the police that the rescue effort began.

The investigation revealed that Liu had been exploring the forest when he accidentally fell into the well. Fortunately, there was no water or snakes in the well, which helped save his life. Authorities are still investigating his purpose in the area, as it is unclear why he was at the Thailand-Myanmar border. The area has since been fenced off and marked to prevent future accidents.
