Recently, a Facebook user, Yhe Tatel, shared her go-to habit when riding public utility vehicles (PUVs) to avoid any inconvenience. The post quickly spread on social media and elicited reactions online.
Yhe explained that she always prepares her fare before boarding any PUV. She finds it more convenient to have her money ready ahead of time rather than rummaging through her bag while seated. For her, it’s a way to stay organized and avoid any inconvenience during the ride.
However, she doesn’t immediately hand over the fare as soon as she’s seated. Instead, she waits for the right moment, usually when the driver is about to stop or at a traffic light. She believes this helps the driver focus on the road, especially when giving change.
Tatel also shared her amusing experience involving an e-trike driver who called out for passengers to pay. Yhe, being the newest rider and still holding her fare in hand, wondered if the comment was meant for her.
Feeling slightly caught off guard, she handed over the money mid-drive, even though it wasn’t her usual approach. Yhe firmly stands by her habit. She believes timing her payment not only keeps things smoother for the driver but also ensures everyone’s safety during the ride.

“Ma-i-share ko lang noh.
Ugali kong mag ready ng pambayad sa pamasahe bago sumakay ng PUV kasi ayokong na hahassle kapag naka sakay na ako at saka palang ako kukuha ng pamasahe sa bag. Kaya bago ako sumakay hawak ko na ang pambayad ko. Pero pag naka sakay na ako hindi ko agad binibigay ang bayad ko kasi hinihintay ko na iabot ang bayad ko sa puntong hindi mahihirapan si kuya driver habang nag dadrive lalo na kung kaylangan pang magsukli. Kaya kadalasan inaabot ko ang bayad ko pag alam kong pahinto siya or malapit sa stop light. Pero naloka ako kasi one time hindi ko pa inaabot ang bayad ko pero hawak ko na, nagsabi si kuya driver “yung mga hindi pa nagbabayad jan”, like whuttt!? ako lang naman yung bagong sakay sa e-trike so para sakin ba yun kuya??? Hahaha LARO TALAGA ANG BUHAY EH. Kaya ayun inabot ko na lang yung bayad ko kahit sa kasagsagan ng pagmamaneho niya. Pero kahit ganun hindi ko parin babaguhin yung kaisipan ko na mag-aabot ako ng bayad sa driver kapag hindi siya busy sa pagmamaneho.”
