John Arcilla Speaks Out on Soaring Grocery Prices
JOHN ARCILLA – The award-winning actor expressed his frustration over the continuous rise in the prices of essential goods in the country.
In an emotional Twitter post, Arcilla conveyed his shock at the soaring grocery bills, particularly when compared to previous years. “Hindi ako nagyayabang na mas mataas ang kita ko sa average na wage earner at sa mas maraming Pilipino. Pero PUNYETA ang taas na ng bilihin ngayon ng BASIC COMMODITY sa palengke,” Arcilla shared.
He recalled that about five to six years ago, a weekly grocery trip that included vegetables, fish, and meat could be done with just ₱3,000 to ₱4,000. Today, the same shopping trip now requires ₱8,000 to ₱10,000. While acknowledging that his income is higher than that of the average worker, Arcilla admitted that he, too, is struggling with the escalating costs.
He pointed out, “PAANO PA YUNG SIMPLENG MAMAMAYAN?” tanong niya sa kanyang post. Tinapos niya ito sa pagsasabing, “Kala ko ba TITINO NA TAYO? Ano na?”
His post quickly gained support from netizens, many of whom shared their own experiences and echoed his concerns. They expressed their frustrations with the rising cost of living and called for immediate action from the government to address the issue.
