Sen. Imee Marcos Reacts To Alleged Impeachment Plan vs. VP Sara Duterte
IMEE MARCOS – The Senator spoke on the impeachment plan against Vice President Sara Duterte that is allegedly rolling in the House of Representatives.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is surrounded by several issues and allegations. She and the Office of the Vice President are being questioned about the OVP Confidential Funds use. The National Bureau or Investigation or NBI also issued a subpoena over Duterte’s remarks against Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
Vice Pres. Duterte is being criticized and questioned for her remarks that seemingly ignited threats on the lives of Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez. Amid the issue, a House member recently claimed that an impeachment plan is rolling against Vice Pres. Duterte in the lower chamber.
According to ACT Teachers’ Party-List Representative France Castro, there are a lot of signatories who are in favor of filing an impeachment case against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. She is confident that the number in the House is enough to proceed with the complaint. She also stressed that they will check the numbers in the Senate.
Castro claimed that the impeachment complaint against Duterte will be filed in December. The said claim gained different reactions from the Filipinos.
Senator Imee Marcos is one of those who are not in favor of pushing for an impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a report on GMA News, the presidential sister stressed that the Philippines is already divided. She also recalled what she usually hears from her late father, former dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
“Watak-watak na nga tayo, nagiging Luzon versus VisMin tayo. Ang sagwa kasi laging naririnig ko sa tatay ko, laging sigaw niya talagang ‘isang bansa, isang diwa’… Sa ginagawa at lahat ng nangyayari, lalo na kung matuloy ang impeachment na yan,” the Senator said.
Sen. Imee Marcos also stressed that the political conflict may affect the investors in putting their money in the country. According to her, investors do not want to put their money in a country wherein the situation can spark political anxiety.
Based on the report, the Senator hopes that the House of Representatives will be ordered that the impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Duterte should not be pushed through. According to the Senate lawmaker, if there is a case, then a case must be filed but it should not be dividing the people.
Previously, amid their rift and the tirades of the Vice President against him, Pres. Bongbong Marcos told the lawmakers not to file an impeachment complaint against VP Sara Duterte. Like his older sister, the Chief Executive also stressed that an impeachment move will not help.
The statement of Marcos Jr. did not sit well with Makabayan Bloc which tagged the move of the President as showing “weak leadership”.
