BONGBONG MARCOS – The President approved the P20,000 service recognition incentive or SRI of the government workers.

Undeniably, while the holiday season is a joyful one and is much-awaited, it also brings a period when the finances may be challenging as the expenses increase.

Meanwhile, in the case of the government employees, they also look forward to the service recognition incentives or SRI every December. Thus, recently, there are several funny calls on social media pertaining to the release of the SRI.

The good news for government workers has arrived. Based on a report on GMA News, Pres. Bongbong Marcos has approved the release of the service recognition incentives (SRI) for the government workers including the uniformed personnels.

The Administrative Order No. 27 which mandates the release of P20,000 SRI for the government workers at a uniform rate of P20,000 each was issued by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, by the authority of the President. Based on the report, it covers both civilian and military government personnel.

Furthermore, reportedly, the release of the SRI is mandated to be conducted starting December 15, 2024 following the approval of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. There are conditions set under the release of this type of incentives such as the following:

  • civilian personnel is under a regular, contractual, or casual positions
  • personnel have rendered a minimum of an aggregate of four months of satisfactory service as of November 30, 2024
  • personnel remains in government service as of November 30, 2024
  • personnel has not received any additional year-end benefit in FY 2024 over and above the authorized under RA No. 6686

The civilian personnel in national government agencies, including those in state universities and colleges (SUCs) and government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs) occupying regular, contractual or casual positions in their employment are bound to receive the SRI. Based on the report, the following are also entitled to the incentives:

Department of National Defense (DND)

  • military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)

  • uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)

Department of Justice

  • Bureau of Corrections

Department of Transportation

  • Philippine Coast Guard

Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)

  • National Mapping and Resource Information Authority

Every December, the different government offices hold a Christmas party. For this year, Pres. Bongbong Marcos made a request to the government offices to avoid extravagant Christmas celebrations.
