Christmas 2024 Bank Schedules
BANK SCHEDULES – As the Christmas season approaches, banks in the Philippines have begun announcing their holiday schedules.
The Christmas season in the Philippines is one of the longest in the world, beginning as early as September and lasting until January. It is deeply rooted in Filipino culture, emphasizing family, faith, and community. Christmas preparations start in the “Ber” months, with homes and public spaces decorated with lights and parols (lanterns).
A highlight is Simbang Gabi, a series of Masses from December 16 to 24, followed by Noche Buena, a festive family feast on Christmas Eve. Traditional dishes like lechon, ham, and puto bumbong are served. Gift-giving, often through Monito/Monita (Secret Santa), is a cherished tradition, and Christmas carols fill the air. Streets and malls are adorned with colorful lights, and many Filipinos donate to those in need. The season culminates in family gatherings on Christmas Day and New Year’s celebrations, making it a joyous and meaningful time for Filipinos.
In the Philippines, banks generally follow regular business hours during the Christmas season, but there are some important exceptions. As the Christmas season approaches, banks in the Philippines have started announcing their holiday schedules. While physical branches will be closed on certain days, customers can still access online banking, ATMs, and Cash Accept Machines during the holidays.
So far, BPI has announced that all branches will be closed on December 24, 25, 30, 31, and January 1, 2025. Similarly, Security Bank branches nationwide will be closed on the same dates. Customers are advised to plan their banking needs accordingly and keep in mind that these dates may vary across different banks. Online and automated services will remain available for transactions during the holiday season. Be sure to check with your bank for any specific updates on branch hours.
