Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Claims Existence of Threats to her Life, AFP & PNP Tag It as “Fake”
AFP, PNP – The Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police dismissed the death threat claim of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Vice Pres. Duterte has undeniably sparked countless reports recently following her remarks against Pres. Bongbong Marcos as well as the issues surrounding the spending of the Confidential Funds of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).
There were several instances when the Vice President threw tirades against the Marcoses. However, her recent remark was not able to skip the eye of the authorities. The National Bureau of Investigation or NBI even issued a subpoena against Vice Pres. Duterte for her remarks against Marcos Jr.
The latest remarks of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte seemingly ignited threats not only on the life of Pres. Bongbong Marcos but as well as the lives of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and House Speaker Martin Romualdez. As for her, there was allegedly no “active threat” in her statement.
The National Bureau of Investigation agreed to the rescheduling of the summon against Duterte. They also vowed to investigate the claim of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte about the alleged threat to her life. Recently, the lawmakers as well as the Armed Forces of the Philippines or AFP and the Philippine National Police or PNP reacted to the claim of the Vice President.
Based on a report on Inquirer, the AFP and PNP dismissed the death threat claim of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Several House lawmakers also share the same ground with the police authorities.
“The supposed assassination threats against Vice President Duterte are fake — completely unfounded and baseless,” Assistant Majority Leader Jude Acidre said.
Acidre also claimed that the death threat claim of Duterte is allegedly “fabricated” just like the names Mary Grace Piattos and Kokoy Villamin in the receipts submitted by the OVP as recipients of its Confidential Funds. According to the lawmaker, the alleged threat on the life of the Vice President was first heard from the vice president herself.
Bataan Representative Geraldine Roman also dismissed the claim of the Vice President. According to her, the action of the Vice President is probably her way to call for help and get sympathy from her supporters. Based on the report, she thinks it is “non-existent” and she does not believe that there is a real threat to the life of the Vice President.
Regarding the names in the OVP receipts tagged as recipients of the Confidential Funds, the PSA data showed that over 400 out of the 667 names have no birth records.
