Spider-Man Gang Members Arrested for Theft

2 Alleged Members of ‘Spider-Man Gang’ Arrested for Theft

SPIDER-MAN GANG – Two men, suspected members of the said group were arrested after being caught stealing over ₱100,000 worth of items from a balikbayan box aboard a moving delivery van in Quezon City.

CCTV footage showed the suspects clinging to the back of the closed van as it passed through various streets. Unnoticed by the driver and not fully captured on camera, the crime was only discovered after the driver stopped at the delivery site and found the box’s contents missing. The driver promptly reported the theft to the police.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ferdinand Casiano of the La Loma Police Station stated that the suspects were apprehended in Navotas during a follow-up operation. Items recovered included shoes, appliances, and office supplies.

The Spider-Man Gang members allegedly target delivery trucks and container vans, often waiting at stoplights for opportunities to board unnoticed. Once the vehicles stop, they climb on and steal items. According to the Quezon City Police District, the suspects had a history of theft but had avoided charges in the past due to victims withdrawing complaints. This time, they face formal charges of theft.

“Ang modus po nila, ito po ay nag-aabang po ng mga delivery truck o mga container van. Kapag nakakita po sila ng tiyempo, ito po ay aakyatin nila. So usually po, nag-aabang po sila sa mga stoplight. So once na po huminto po itong truck na ito, agad po silang sasampa,” said Casiano.

According to GMA News, the Spider-Man Gang members admitted to their crimes, citing financial necessity as their motive. One confessed they sell stolen items depending on their resale value, while the other stated it was for daily expenses. Authorities warn against such crimes, emphasizing vigilance among delivery drivers and stronger legal action to prevent recurring offenses.
