Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Says Time Will Come When She Won’t Join Politics Anymore
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President responded to the call of her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, for her to leave the politics the soonest.
Vice Pres. Duterte is currently one of the government officials who are faced with several issues and accusations. She is being questioned regarding the use of the multi-million confidential funds during her term as the Department of Education (DepEd) secretary and she is also asked about the fund use of the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
However, the OVP officials snubbed the invitation of the House of Representatives to a hearing on their office’s fund use. Vice Pres. Duterte is also being urged to account the P112.5 million confidential funds of DepEd when she was the secretary of the education department.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also gained different reactions over her fiery tirades against Pres. Bongbong Marcos. It is no secret to the public now that the relationship between Marcos and Duterte has turned sour. According to the Vice President, her friend really is Senator Imee Marcos and she only got to talk to her brother when they became running mates in the 2022 Elections.
At a House hearing, a DepEd accountant claimed that she received envelopes with cash from Vice Pres. Duterte when she was the education secretary. According to the DepEd official, she thought that it was an allowance from the personal pockets of the Vice President to show her appreciation of their work.
Recently, amid the different issues and accusations, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte advised Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to leave politics the soonest. According to the former Chief Executive, it is a rare occurence for a father to have been on the presidency and the daughter to be the vice president after and the should be grateful for the opportunities.
“Si Inday, pasalamat ka na lang sa Diyos na ang tatay mo naging Presidente, ikaw naging Vice President. Bihirang-bihira yan, bihira sa isang pamilya. Hindi lahat ng pamilya sa Pilipinas… pasalamat na lang tayo. Now, as fast as you can, get out of politics,” former Pres. Duterte said.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte responded to the call of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte for her to leave politics as fast as she can. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President said that time will come when she will not join politics anymore.
According to VP Sara, she also wants to be out from politics but she has to answer to the 32.2 million Filipinos who voted for her “to become the vice president of everyone”.
“Darating din tayo doon na hindi na ako sasali sa politics. Ako man gusto ko rin. Ang problema ko is that I need to answer to 32.2 million Filipinos who gave confidence and trust for me to become the vice president of everyone,” Duterte said.
Based on the report, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also stressed that we don’t know what might happen next. According to her, we can plan but it is God’s plan that prevails and we can keep on planning but we need to trust God.
“Hindi natin alam kung ano mangyayari bukas. We can only plan but it’s always God’s purpose that shall prevail. So, plano lang tayo nang plano pero magtiwala rin tayo sa Diyos,” she said.
The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has requested for a P2 billion budget in 2025. However, the House approved only P733 million for Duterte’s office. Sen. Grace Poe also revealed that the Senal panel adopted the amount appropriated by the House for the OVP.
