Due to an Irregular Heartbeat, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy was Hospitalized
PASTOR APOLLO QUIBOLOY – The detained leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), was hospitalized last Friday due to chest pains and an irregular heartbeat, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Quiboloy, held at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame, was transferred to the Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City after his condition became concerning. PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo stated that his irregular heartbeat might be “life-threatening,” prompting the need for immediate medical care.
Quiboloy has been in detention facing numerous charges, including a non-bailable qualified human trafficking charge under Section 4(a) of Republic Act No. 9208 and offenses under Republic Act 7610, which protects children from abuse and exploitation. The televangelist and self-proclaimed “Appointed Son of God” maintains his innocence, claiming the charges are fabrications by disgruntled members of his religious group.
Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is the founder and leader of the KOJC, which he established in 1985. He is known for declaring himself as the “Owner of the Universe” and for his close relationship with former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. Over the years, Quiboloy’s influence grew, with his church reportedly gaining a significant following in the Philippines and abroad. He is also notable for founding Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI), a broadcasting network that promotes his religious messages.
Quiboloy’s legal troubles extend beyond the Philippines. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) listed him as a wanted individual after the Central District of California indicted him on multiple charges, including human trafficking, s*x trafficking, coercion, marriage fraud, and money laundering. After his refusal to cooperate with investigations in the Philippines, the Senate issued an arrest warrant on March 19, 2024. In July 2024, the Department of the Interior and Local Government placed a ₱10 million bounty for his capture. Quiboloy was eventually arrested by authorities on September 8, 2024.
