Paolo Contis Confirms He Is Single
PAOLO CONTIS – The actor-comedian confirmed he is single, ending months of rumors about his relationship with actress Yen Santos.
He made this announcement on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda on November 14, 2024, where he openly shared his single status after fellow actor Kokoy de Santos also stated he was single. This marks the first time Paolo publicly clarified his relationship status, following months of speculation after Yen deleted an Instagram birthday post for him in May 2024 and later unfollowed him. Paolo, in turn, unfollowed Yen in June.
Speculation about their relationship first arose in November 2023, when Paolo appeared in a video kissing his former Eat Bulaga! co-host Arra San Agustin. He later clarified that the scene was scripted for the show, assuring viewers that his relationship with Yen was still intact.
In an April 2024 interview with 24 Oras, Paolo explained that he and Yen had chosen to keep their relationship private to avoid public criticism and negative attention. He noted that this approach allowed them to build their relationship more securely since both valued privacy. Just two weeks before his announcement, Paolo mentioned that he and Yen would be separated temporarily while he filmed a movie in Bicol.
Their quiet approach to social media led to further speculation, especially after Yen shared a video clip from Heart Evangelista’s Fast Talk interview, where Heart advised her younger self to “protect her heart.” Yen did not add any caption, but many believed it hinted at a breakup.
Paolo first confirmed his relationship with Yen in January 2023, noting that they chose to reveal only what they felt comfortable sharing with the public. He also clarified that Yen was not involved in his separation from ex-partner LJ Reyes, explaining that stress, ongoing disagreements, and his lack of support for LJ during the pandemic had strained their relationship.
Meanwhile, LJ Reyes has since moved on and is now happily married to her non-showbiz husband, Philip Evangelista.
