Alias “Neri” Arrest Confirmed by NCRPO-SPD
ALIAS NERI – The National Capital Region Police Office – Southern Police District (NCRPO-SPD) confirmed the arrest of a 41-year-old actress and businesswoman, referred to as “alias Neri,” on charges of estafa and securities violations.
The arrest took place on Saturday, November 23, at 2:50 p.m., during a police operation at a mall in Pasay City. Reports suggest the person arrested might be Neri Naig, wife of Chito Miranda, the lead vocalist of Parokya ni Edgar.
Authorities stated that the arrest was based on a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 111 in Pasay City. The actress is accused of 14 violations of Section 28 of Republic Act 8799, also known as the Securities Regulation Code. This law requires individuals to register with the government before selling investments as brokers or agents. The bail was set at ₱126,000 per count, amounting to a total of ₱1,764,000.
In addition to the securities violations, the actress faces a separate fraud case in RTC Branch 112 in Pasay City. For this charge, a court order has been issued, but no bail has been specified.
The incident gained public attention after showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz shared details on his vlog, claiming to have obtained documents about the arrest. While the police have not disclosed the actress’s full name, Diaz suggested that it could be Naig.
Notably, the news came shortly after Naig and her family celebrated her son’s birthday, sharing photos and videos on social media. As of now, it remains unclear whether she has posted bail or plans to address the allegations publicly.
This case has sparked significant interest due to Naig’s public role as an actress and businesswoman. Many are awaiting further updates, as her silence raises questions about the charges and their potential impact on her career and family.
