Malacañang Reacts To Tirades, Threat of Dutertes against Marcos Jr.

Statement of Malacañang on Duterte’s Call to Military

MALACAÑANG – The Palace reacted to the tirades and threat of the Dutertes against President Bongbong Marcos.

Recently, the Filipino people has witnessed the deteriorating relationship between two (2) of the most powerful and popular political clans in the Philippines — the Dutertes and the Marcoses. Undeniably, the latter is quite mum on the issues and tirades from the other camp.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has accused Pres. Bongbong Marcos of allegedly not knowing how to be a president and allegedly not having plan on how to solve the problems of the country. When asked to rate the performance of the Chief Executive in a scale of 1-10, the Vice President gave him a “one”.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also accused the Marcos family of allegedly being the mastermind of the Ninoy Aquino slay in 1986. The late former Senator was shot at the then-Manila International Airport upon his arrival. Her statement followed her remarks that seemingly triggered threats on the lives of Pres. Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte also reiterated his previous claim linking Pres. Bongbong Marcos to drug use. The former Chief Executive also expressed that the country is allegedly running in a “fractured governance” under the Marcos leadership.

According to Duterte, no one can allegedly correct Marcos Jr. as well as Romualdez. He called on the military to be the protector of the Constitution. The former President also asked the military if they will continue to serve the President.

Recently, Malacañang reacted to the statement of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. Based on a report on GMA News, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said that Duterte asking the armed forces to betray their oath “for his plan to succeed” is an insult.

‘The former president should respect the Constitution, not disobey it. He should desist from being as irresponsible as he has become,” Malacañang said.

The Executive Secretary said that Duterte’s open call to the armed forces to allegedly launch a protest against Pres. Ferdinand Marcos is surprising. Based on the report, he vowed that the Marcos administration will not shrink to its sworn duty as per the rule of law and the Constitution.

Malacañang also stressed that “power grabbing” is unacceptable. The Palace emphasized that the Marcos admin will defend its legacy before the Pinoys by lawful means.

“Hindi katanggap-tanggap ang marahas na pang-aagaw ng kapangyarihan upang madaling maluklok bilang pangulo sa pamamagitan ng pagpaslang, panggugulo at pag-aalsa. Maghintay kayo sa tamang panahon, sumunod sa tamang pamamaraan,’” Malacañang said.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) recently confirmed that it will investigate the remarks of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has also issued a subpoena for Vice Pres. Sara Duterte over her threat against Marcos Jr.
