To Be with His Girlfriend, Boyfriend Travels Weekly Between China and Australia
COMMITTED BOYFRIEND – A man travels weekly between China and Australia just to be with his girlfriend.
Xu Guangli, a 28-year-old student from Shandong Province, China, gained attention for his dedication to both his studies and his girlfriend. From August to October 2024, Xu traveled weekly between China and Australia to attend a single class at RMIT University in Melbourne. After class, he immediately flew back to China to be with his girlfriend.
Each trip lasted three days. Xu left Dezhou early in the morning, transferred to Jinan for a flight, and reached Melbourne the next day after a layover. He attended his class and returned to China the following day. Xu explained his reasons: he needed to finish his master’s degree in arts management and didn’t want to live alone in Melbourne after his girlfriend returned to China.
Xu shared his weekly journeys on social media, gaining nearly 10,000 followers. Each trip cost about PHP100,000, covering flights, taxis, and meals. He saved money by staying at a classmate’s place in Melbourne. Despite the expenses, Xu said it was worth it to be with his girlfriend and enjoy food from home, which he preferred over Australian dishes.
Xu also used his travels to learn about work environments in China, believing it would benefit his future career. He made the most of his flights by visiting other Chinese cities and even stopped in Vietnam once.
In October 2024, Xu completed his studies, ending his costly and exhausting travel routine. His story went viral, with netizens praising his devotion to his girlfriend and education. Many admired his stamina and commitment, with one commenting, “I have never seen anyone so devoted to love before.” Xu’s journey reflected his strong dedication and inspired many.
