Student w/ Bipolar Disorder Lost Her Life Due to Alleged Bullying Inside School Campus
Student with bipolar disorder passed away after allegedly being bullied at school, school reportedly blamed the parents.
Recently, a heartbreaking story about a student with bipolar disorder who passed away after allegedly being bullied at school is circulating on social media. The post elicited various reactions from the online community.
The parents of the student, Shane, a Grade 11 student from World Citi Colleges (WCC) in Quezon City, have shared their frustration, blaming the school for failing to protect their child.
According to Shane’s mother, Aisha Monterey Casubuan, she revealed that her daughter had been a constant victim of bullying. Shane had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and the school was well aware of her condition from the start.
The family had provided updated medical certificates to the school, but despite this, they felt that WCC’s “zero tolerance policy on bullying” was not enforced.
Aisha shared that her daughter passed away on May 11, 2024. Shane had recently adjusted her anti-depressant medication, which unfortunately worsened her condition. Shane developed a severe fever that eventually triggered cardiac arrest while she was in the emergency room at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Casubuan expressed frustration over the school’s response. She stated that the only communication they received from WCC was that the issue was “under internal investigation.” Even after her daughter’s passing, no further actions were taken.
The victim’s mom claimed that when they visited the school with their attorney, they were blocked from entering.

The frustrated woman also revealed that the school seemed to shift the blame onto the parents, referencing an incident report Shane had filed during one of her episodes. This led the family to believe that the school was deflecting responsibility for the bullying.
The issue has since been raised to the Department of Education – National Capital Region (DepEd-NCR), and the family is awaiting a hearing. As of this writing, WCC has not yet responded to the allegations.
