Fyang Smith Addresses Claims of Being “Disrespectful”
FYANG SMITH – A ‘Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11’ housemate responded to claims from some housemates saying she was acting disrespectfully, which led to her being nominated several times.
In a conversation with fellow housemate Kai, Fyang was asked if she still believes she deserves to win the title of Big Winner despite the issues about her behavior.
Fyang answered honestly, explaining that while her way of speaking might seem different or harsh to others, she never meant to be disrespectful. She said the misunderstanding comes from differences in how people grew up and how they talk. According to her, what others might see as rude is just her usual way of talking. She made it clear that she did not mean to offend anyone, and people are just not used to how she communicates.
“Sa tingin ko, the way na sinasabi ng iba na disrespectful ako, is hindi lang kayo sanay na ganun ako magsalita. Iba-iba tayo ng kinalakihan. It’s just me, na hindi siya disrespectful talaga. May respect ako sa tao, although sinabi ko kay Kolet ‘yun, kahit di ako nag-a-ate sa kanya, kahit binabalagbag ko siya, I still respect her” she said.
Fyang gave an example of her interaction with housemate Kolet. She said that although she didn’t call Kolet “Ate” (a respectful term for older women in Filipino culture) and sometimes spoke bluntly, she still respected her. She said that respect can be shown in different ways and that her direct style of speaking should not be seen as disrespect.
Despite the criticisms, Fyang is confident in her growth and believes she still deserves to be the Big Winner. She pointed out that she has worked on changing the way she speaks to better match what others expect, showing her ability to adjust as a reason she should win.
“Sa tingin ko, yeah, karapat-dapat pa rin ako maging Big Winner, although hindi siya disrespectful, kasi nagawa ‘kong mag-adjust, nagawa kong baguhin the way ako magsalita,” she stressed.
