Migz Villafuerte Spotted Giving P500 to Elderly Woman During Rescue Op

During a Rescue Operation, Cong. Migz Villafuerte was Spotted Giving P500 to an Elderly Woman

MIGZ VILLAFUERTE – The representative of the 5th district of Camarines Sur was spotted giving P500 to an elderly woman during a rescue operation.

The Villafuerte family is currently under scrutiny online due to their alleged absence during Typhoon Kristine’s devastation. This came after photos of Governor Luigi Villafuerte, his girlfriend Yassi, Congressman LRay Villafuerte, and several Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials allegedly vacationing in Siargao during the calamity went viral.

Netizens criticized the Villafuertes for taking a vacation during such a critical time, with some accusing them of neglecting their responsibilities as their constituents dealt with the storm’s aftermath. Reports claimed that the officials were stranded in Siargao due to bad weather and couldn’t return to Camarines Sur.

In response, Congressman LRay Villafuerte dismissed the accusations as “fake news.” He explained that the circulated photos were taken on Saturday and that all SK officials had returned to Camarines Sur by Monday, before the storm hit. He emphasized that he and his family had been actively participating in relief and rescue efforts, personally donating rubber boats and coordinating with national agencies, international organizations, and senators for additional assistance for the province.

Amid the backlash his family is receiving, Migz Villafuerte, the representative of the 5th district of Camarines Sur, is trying his best to improve their family’s image by being hands-on with relief operations. On Facebook, Migz posted about rescuing 17 stranded CSPC boarders in Nabua with the help of his personal close-in security and friends. According to him, they had been stranded without food for three days. Migz also called for more teams to assist with the ongoing rescue efforts.

In one of the photos he posted online, he is seen handing out 500 pesos in cash to an elderly woman. However, this gesture was met with criticism from netizens, who suggested he should have given goods or food instead, as it was not yet possible for residents to buy from stores due to the flooding.
