VP Sara Duterte Crossed the Line Says Sandro Marcos
SARA DUTERTE – Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio crossed the line said Rep. Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Araneta Marcos III.
Representative Sandro Marcos of the Ilocos Norte First District, the grandson of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos and son of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., finally spoke out yesterday against Vice President Sara Duterte’s recent disparaging comments about his family.
“Going ballistic was perhaps the self-therapy she prescribed for herself. But she crossed the line, leaving the civic and civil space in which disagreements can be rationally argued,” said Sandro.
Based on a report from Philstar, despite his attempts to remain silent out of respect for the Vice President and her office, Sandro Marcos acknowledged that he could no longer stand the attacks on his family.
“I have held my tongue out of respect for the Vice President, given the mandate she was given and the responsibility which her office holds,” he explained.
But as a son, Sandro said he could not keep quiet after Duterte threatened to hurt his father, President Marcos Jr., and exhume the remains of the late President Ferdinand Marcos. “Her bizarre temper tantrum has been condemned by a nation horrified from such displays of insensitivity towards the dead and cruelty to the living,” he added.
Sandro made it clear that many people nationwide shared his emotions, which went beyond being merely personal. “I can ascertain that my emotions are shared not only by my kakailian in the north but across the country,” he noted.
Sandro Marcos shared that his father, President Marcos Jr., had advised him to hold back his frustration and avoid making any public statements. However, Sandro believed that the moment had arrived to speak out. “One must draw the line… and it’s frankly long overdue,” he remarked, emphasizing that his father had not responded to Duterte’s criticisms in any way.
According to the report, Sandro also encouraged people to prioritize their mental health following Duterte’s remarks. “Let this be an opportune time to remind ourselves that we mustn’t take our mental health for granted and that above all else, I sincerely hope she is OK. As such, I still wish the Vice President well,” he said, expressing his continued well wishes for the Vice President and hoping she finds “the peace of mind and mental clarity that seems to be eluding her.”
