Marco Gumabao Shares What He Can Offer as a Candidate
MARCO GUMABAO – The actor responded to a netizen who asked what he could offer as a candidate.
Recently, Marco filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) to run for congressman in Camarines Sur’s 4th district. His political move aligns with the Team One CamSur group, led by Governor Luigi Villafuerte, who is running for the 2nd district congressional seat. The Villafuerte family holds several key political positions in the region, with Luigi’s brother, LRay, running for governor, and Miguel seeking re-election as the 5th district representative.
Gumabao comes from a family with a background in public service. His father, Dennis Roldan, was a former councilor and congressman for Quezon City’s 3rd district. However, Dennis was convicted of a 2005 kidnapping and is currently serving a life sentence. Despite this, Marco is determined to chart his own path in politics.
When a netizen questioned what Marco could bring to the table, given his lack of political experience and formal education in the field, Marco responded thoughtfully. He acknowledged the common skepticism toward actors entering politics and stated that he is committed to breaking that stigma. He explained that his exposure to public service began at a young age through his family’s involvement in politics, and his desire to help others through public service has always been in his heart.
Regarding his education, Marco shared that he attended Ateneo de Manila University from prep to high school and then pursued a degree in psychology at De La Salle University. Additionally, he is currently completing studies in Philippine governance, policy-making, and economics at the University of the Philippines National College of Public Administration and Governance (UPNCPAG).
Marco emphasized that while he may not claim to be the smartest or most experienced candidate, he takes pride in his strong work ethic and genuine desire to help people. He promised to bring diligence, integrity, and a people-oriented approach to his political career.
