LIAM PAYNE – The former One Direction member was found dead after a tragic fall from the third floor of CasaSur, a hotel in Palermo, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Authorities are currently investigating whether the incident, which occurred on the afternoon of October 16, 2024, was accidental or intentional.
One hour before his death, Liam posted a Snapchat Story with photos of himself and his partner, Kate Cassidy, captioned “Beautiful day in Argentina.” This cheerful post was a stark contrast to the tragic events that followed, leaving fans shocked and saddened. News of his passing spread quickly, prompting many of his admirers to gather outside the CasaSur hotel in disbelief.
Before the incident, a hotel employee called 911 to report a disturbance in the lobby involving a man, believed to be Liam. The man was described as appearing intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, smashing a laptop, and needing to be escorted back to his room.
Liam had been in Buenos Aires to support his former bandmate Niall Horan’s concert on October 2, 2024. He arrived in the city on September 30 with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, who left Buenos Aires just two days before his death.
Liam’s ex-fiancée, Maya Henry, was also mentioned in connection with the incident. Days before his death, Maya filed a complaint against Liam, alleging harassment toward her and her family since their breakup in 2022. Her lawyers issued a cease-and-desist letter to Liam, citing his persistent attempts to contact her using various phone numbers.
As of now, Liam’s former One Direction bandmates—Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Niall Horan—have not yet released official statements regarding his death.
Liam is survived by his seven-year-old son, Bear Grey, whom he shares with singer Cheryl Cole. Despite openly discussing his struggles with addiction and mental health issues in a 2021 interview, his death has left the music world and his fans mourning the loss of the 31-year-old artist.
