Lawyer Backs Diwata and Rosmar Tan as Future Lawmakers
ATTY. WILFREDO GARRIDO – The well-known lawyer expressed his support for content creators like Deo “Diwata” Balbuena and Rosmar Tan in their pursuit of becoming lawmakers.
In a Facebook post, Garrido pointed out that Diwata and Rosmar Tan have demonstrated their skills as successful business owners and vloggers, having started their own businesses from the ground up. He believes this experience makes them better suited for public office than some actors who run for office simply because they are famous.
Garrido criticized many actors for benefiting from family connections and relying on their looks or their parents’ reputations rather than their abilities. He also mentioned that these celebrities often appear heroic in their fictional roles but lack real-world knowledge and practical skills.
Currently, Diwata is running as a nominee for the Vendors Party list, while Rosmar Tan is seeking a councilor position in Manila.
Meanwhile, Rosmar, whose real name is Rosemarie Peñamora Tan-Pamulaklakin, is a well-known vlogger, entrepreneur, and CEO of the skincare brand Rosmar International. She has gained immense popularity on TikTok, with over 20.8 million followers and 1.2 billion likes.
Pamulaklakin earned her bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Far Eastern University. At just 19, she launched her first business, Mysterious Madre Cacao, which was inspired by a skin issue in a bulldog she adopted. This venture enabled her to create a successful skincare line utilizing the madre de cacao plant, generating impressive daily profits of up to ₱200,000.
In contrast, Diwata, whose real name is Deo Jarito Balbuena, is a Filipino internet personality, food vlogger, entrepreneur, and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. Born in 1982 in Northern Samar, Philippines, he relocated to Metro Manila at 17 in pursuit of better opportunities. He graduated from Don Juan F. Avalon National High School and initially worked as a beautician before exploring various business ventures, including trading and selling coffee and snacks.
