Ken Chan Expresses Gratitude for His New Best Actor Award Amid Being MIA
KEN CHAN – The Kapuso actor expressed his gratitude after receiving a Best Actor award.
Ken Chan recently received the PinakaPASADOng Aktor award at the 26th Gawad Pasado ceremony, held on October 13, 2024, at the Philippine Christian University in Manila. He was recognized for his performance in Papa Mascot, a film that he produced and starred in. Although Papa Mascot was released in theaters in April 2023, it did not achieve significant box office success.
Nevertheless, Ken expressed his happiness for having created a quality film, fulfilling a long-held dream. He conveyed his gratitude for the Gawad Pasado award through a Facebook post on October 14, thanking the organization for the recognition. He shared this honor with fellow actor Cedrick Juan, who won for GomBurZa.
Despite the disappointing financial results of his first project as a movie producer, Ken previously stated his intention to continue producing films. However, he faces challenges in pursuing this goal due to a syndicated estafa case (Criminal Case No. R-QZN-24-06294-CR) filed against him and six others. This legal issue complicates his ability to work in the industry.
Although he won the award, Ken was unable to accept it in person, as he is believed to be out of the country. Last month, his team announced that he would return to the Philippines to face the ongoing case, but sources indicate that he is currently in an East Asian country, as confirmed by sightings from fellow Filipinos.
Among those implicated in the estafa case is Ken’s close friend, Caucasian actor and businessman Ryan Mitchel Kolton. Efforts to reach Kolton for comment on the situation were unsuccessful, and reports suggest he, too, is no longer in the Philippines and has remained inactive on social media since becoming embroiled in this serious legal matter.
