Ion Perez is Running for Councilor

ION PEREZ – The partner of “It’s Showtime” host Vice Ganda has officially announced his candidacy for councilor of Concepcion, Tarlac.

Ion is an actor, model, and television host. He is best known for his role as the Kuya Escort in the “Miss Q and A” segment of the noontime variety show “It’s Showtime,” which he joined in September 2018. Ion is also a co-host on the show and has been active in the entertainment industry since 2018.

Ion comes from a large family, being the 11th of 15 siblings. He faced bullying in his youth due to his lanky frame, which motivated him to get fit. To help his family, he worked in their poultry shop in a wet market, using his physique to attract customers.

Before his television career, he was involved in modeling and pageantry. Ion won the 2017 Misters of Filipinas and the 2018 Mister Universe Tourism titles, which opened up more opportunities in his modeling career.

In his personal life, Ion has been in a relationship with fellow entertainer Vice Ganda since 2018. They held a commitment ceremony in Las Vegas in October 2021. Ion continues to be active in both television and film, with notable roles in movies like “The Mall, The Merrier” and “Kaka.” He has also won awards, including Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 5th Rawr Awards.

Meanwhile, Ion Perez has formally declared his intention to run for councilor in Concepcion, Tarlac. According to a report from Tarlac Forum on October 1, Perez has filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) to run in the upcoming 2025 midterm elections. Prior to this announcement, he took an oath as a new member of the Nationalist People’s Coalition at the municipal hall of Concepcion.

This political move aligns Perez with the party of Tarlac Governor Susan Yap. As of now, neither Perez nor Vice Ganda has commented publicly on this development. The news has generated interest among fans and followers as Perez transitions from his role in the entertainment industry to a political position.
