Arrest Order Issued for Wife of Harry Roque Over Hearing Absence
MYLA ROQUE – The wife of former Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque has been ordered arrested by the Quad Committee of the House of Representatives after repeatedly failing to attend their hearings.
During a session held on Friday, Abang Lingkod party-list Representative Joseph Stephen Paduano moved to cite Myla Roque in contempt for not appearing, despite being given sufficient time to respond or provide an acceptable explanation. The motion was approved by Quad Committee Chairperson Surigao del Norte Representative Robert Ace Barbers without any objections.
“Since we have given Ms. Roque the due process…. I move to cite in contempt Ms. Roque, Mr. chairman,” said Congressman Stephen Paduano.
Following this, Antipolo City Representative Romeo Acop proposed an arrest order against the wife of the ex-presidential spokesperson, which was also unanimously approved. Roque’s absence was significant because her name was mentioned during the committee’s investigation due to her involvement in a lease agreement with a wanted Chinese national, who has been in hiding since authorities raided a POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator) facility in Porac, Pampanga.
Harry himself was previously cited in contempt by the committee for failing to submit copies of his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN), as well as documents related to his business transactions and tax records, as he had previously committed to do. The committee’s investigation is focused on allegations that his substantial increase in wealth may be linked to POGO operations during the previous administration.
The Quad Committee’s actions suggest a serious effort to hold both Harry and Myla Roque accountable for their roles and connections in questionable business dealings and political activities. The investigation remains ongoing as the committee seeks more clarity on their involvement and compliance with legal standards.
