Remember Tootsie Guevarra? This is her now
TOOTSIE GUEVARRA – The singer, now a hospital executive in the U.S., shares her journey from being a performer in the Philippines to working in the healthcare field.
Tootsie rose to fame in the late ’90s and early 2000s but faced many inappropriate proposals during her singing career, leading her to decide it was time for a change. In the early 2000s, Tootsie moved to the U.S. and initially worked as a real estate agent. She learned the business with help from a former producer who suggested she give it a try. Her charm as a singer helped her build connections in the industry, and she embraced the role of a “singing real estate agent.” However, the lack of a steady income prompted her to seek new opportunities, especially since she had a child and needed to support her parents.
Tootsie’s life took another turn when she decided to enter the healthcare sector after suggesting to her aunt that she could work as her marketing manager for her home care business. This experience opened her eyes to the healthcare field, where she found her passion for helping others. She began assessing the needs of elderly patients, deepening her understanding of life in America and the challenges many faced.
Eventually, Tootsie expanded her experience beyond her aunt’s business, taking on roles in home care, assisted living, and nursing homes. She received several promotions and became a regional director of sales. Tootsie expressed gratitude for her journey, recognizing the challenges and unkind people she encountered while stressing the importance of staying positive.
Today, she continues to perform for the Filipino community while raising her two children, demonstrating that her journey is a mix of determination, passion, and success.
