Meet Vevherly Camiguing Gador: From Bagoong Seller to Beauty Queen
VEVHERLY CAMIGUING GADOR – A 36-year-old Cebuana, has transformed remarkably from selling second-hand items and anchovies or bagoong during tough times to winning the Mrs. Universe Philippines title. Gador’s journey to this prestigious accolade is a testament to her resilience and determination. She will represent the Philippines at Mrs. Universe 2024 in Korea from October 2 to 10.
Gador was raised in a remote, off-grid area in Barangay Lawaan, Alcantara, Cebu. Her early life was marked by simplicity and hardship, with limited resources. Despite these challenges, she remained committed to her education and supported herself and her daughter through various jobs. Her work included part-time modeling, fast food service, and call center roles, all while pursuing her studies.
After obtaining a degree in criminology, Gador initially worked as a civil aviation security inspector at NAIA. However, she had to resign due to spinal health issues. Her first job in Dubai in 2015 involved strenuous work that exacerbated her health problems. She resigned in early 2017 and returned to the Philippines, where she later worked in cruise ship security. Unfortunately, her health issues persisted, and the COVID-19 pandemic led to job loss, forcing her to sell items to make ends meet.
In December 2021, a devastating typhoon further damaged her home, compounding her difficulties. Amid these adversities, an old friend’s offer to return to Dubai provided a much-needed glimmer of hope. Gador arrived back in Dubai on December 30, 2021, and soon secured a position as an admin secretary, which she held until September 2023.
Beyond her beauty queen title, Gador is preparing to launch a beauty product line and explore business ventures and endorsements. Her success reflects her incredible perseverance through past struggles and current achievements.
