PBBM 2025 Senate Lineup
SENATORIAL SLATE – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. (PBBM) formally introduced the senatorial candidates endorsed by his administration for the upcoming 2025 midterm elections during the “Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas Convention 2024.” The event took place at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.
Among the candidates are former senators returning to the political arena, including Tito Sotto III, who previously served as Senate President and ran for vice president in 2022, along with 2022 presidential candidates Ping Lacson and Manny Pacquiao. Additionally, several sitting senators are seeking re-election: Lito Lapid, Bong Revilla, Pia Cayetano, Francis Tolentino, and Imee Marcos.
New candidates aiming to enter the Senate include Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, former Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and broadcast journalist Erwin Tulfo, House Deputy Speaker Camille Villar of Las Piñas City, and Benhur Abalos, the Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The alliance backing these candidates is composed of five political parties: the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD), Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), Nacionalista Party (NP), and National Unity Party (NUP). This coalition aims to strengthen support for the administration’s legislative agenda.
President Marcos Jr. also presided over the signing of a manifesto representing the partnership of these parties. Key figures involved in the signing included South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. for the PFP, House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez for Lakas-CMD, Secretary Mark Llandro Mendoza for NPC, former Senate President Manuel Villar Jr. for NP, and Camarines Sur 2nd District Representative Luis Raymund Villafuerte Jr. for NUP.
This coalition marks a significant step in consolidating political alliances as the Philippines prepares for the upcoming elections, emphasizing a unified approach to governance and legislative priorities.
