Statement of OVP on Rumor Against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte
OVP – The Office of the Vice President issued a statement on the rumor that VP Sara Duterte went to a beach during House deliberations of the 2025 budget proposal of her office.
The recent actions of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte elicited countless different reactions from the netizens. There are also members of the Senate and the House of Representatives who were greatly disappointed by the behavior of the Vice President who snubbed two (2) House hearings.
At the Senate deliberation of the 2025 budget proposal of the Office of the Vice President, Senator Risa Hontiveros and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte had a spar. It came after the lawmaker expressed her desire to re-allocate the funds for the assistance programs of Duterte’s office to “relevant agencies” with similar assistance programs.
Hontiveros also made mention about the P10 million budget allotted for the distribution of the book that was authored by Duterte herself. At the deliberation held by the House of Representatives, Duterte also had a spar with ACT Teachers Party-List Representative France Castro after the latter asked about the spending of the previous budget of the OVP.
The deliberation was rescheduled by the House of Representatives. However, at the resumption of the House deliberation of the 2025 budget proposal, the Vice President was no show. It earned her the “bratinella to the max” tag from Castro.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was no show again at another House hearing regarding the OVP budget proposal. It left several members of the lower chamber disappointed. House Deputy Speaker and Quezon 2nd District Representative David Suarez said that many House members allegedly share the same sentiment that if Duterte is no longer interested to do her job, she can step down from her office.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, AKO BICOL Party List Representative Raul Angelo Bongalon claimed that the Vice President allegedly chose to be in a beach resort that to attend the budget hearing. The OVP issued a statement on the alleged move of media outlets to damage the reputation of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
In its statement, the OVP said that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was on the road to talk to the people regarding the current happenings in the Philippines. Her office stated that she made stops in Vinzons and Daet, Camarines Norte and Legazpi, Albay.
