Statement of the Mother of a Child Who Suffered a Head Injury
DIANNE EMPAS OMAPAS – The mother of a child who suffered a head injury at Tibagon Elementary School spoke with 93.9 iFM News Davao to clarify her intentions regarding the incident.
She emphasized that she did not aim to humiliate Teacher Marjorie Boldo; her primary goal was to raise awareness about her child’s condition, as he returned home injured without receiving any first aid. Teacher Boldo claimed she refrained from treating the injury due to a fear of blood.
Following the incident, Dianne sent a message to Teacher Boldo with details and a photo of her child’s injury. When she received no response from the teacher, she decided to approach the principal the next day. Dianne refuted allegations that she had reported Teacher Boldo to the principal and noted that the principal handled the situation professionally.
Dianne reiterated that her sole aim in bringing up the matter was to promote awareness to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. She expressed concern for her family’s safety, stating that they have received threats since the situation arose. Dianne’s appeal to critics is for understanding and support, rather than backlash against her intentions.
Meanwhile, DepEd Davao de Oro has expressed its condolences to Teacher Marjorie’s family and confirmed that the principal will be summoned for questioning. The investigation aims to address the circumstances surrounding her death and to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future, emphasizing the need for a supportive environment within educational settings.
A temporary Officer-In-Charge (OIC) was assigned to the school after the principal was summoned by the Department of Education. Employees refused to comment when approached by the news team. In a separate interview, the teacher’s family revealed that her blood pressure dropped to 70/50 due to stress, which was linked to an incident where the principal allegedly reprimanded her. The teacher passed away a week later.
