PNP Says More Victims of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy Breaks Silence
APOLLO QUIBOLOY – Philippine National Police (PNP) revealed more victims of religious leader Apollo Quiboloy speak out.
According to Philippine National Police head Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil on Wednesday, more alleged victims of televangelist Apollo Quiboloy have come forward to expose the “systematic abuse” within the religious group he created.
Victims approached authorities during a 16-day operation at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) property in Davao City with the intention of issuing an arrest warrant for Quiboloy and four others.
Based on a report from Inquirer, Marbil said in a statement that the PNP had uncovered “new and alarming details” on Quiboloy’s purported criminal activities, emphasizing the systemic abuse of young women under his supervision. This information was based on an Inquirer story.
Following a 24-hour ultimatum, Quiboloy and four of his colleagues turned themselves into the police on September 8. They were apprehended after a manhunt involving 2,000 police officers and the tunnel being dug in the KJC site, despite objections and legal challenges from KJC attorneys and sympathizers. While all of the accused are being held at Camp Crame, a local court has ordered that they be moved to the municipal jail.
According to the report, Marbil further mentioned that more charges against Quiboloy had been made by young ladies who are referred to as “pastorals” or personal assistants within the KJC. He emphasized that victims as young as 12 were especially susceptible and that the entire scope of Quiboloy’s alleged crimes would only be revealed by their testimonies.
“These courageous victims have spoken up, revealing their harrowing experiences. The abuse they endured shows an alarming pattern of manipulation and exploitation,” Marbil said.
In an effort to support the cases against Quiboloy, the PNP is now recording the fresh claims and pleading with other victims to come forward.
One of the complainants in the new allegations against Quiboloy and others claims she was subjected to forced labor, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse starting in 2011 when she was still a minor.
“This is just the beginning,” said Marbil. “The PNP is thoroughly examining the evidence to ensure that we build a solid case against Quiboloy.’’
