Mark Andrew Yulo Advises Son Carlos to Say Sorry to His Mom
MARK ANDREW YULO – The father of two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo has advised his son to apologize to his mother, Angelica Yulo.
In a comment on an ABS-CBN article, Mark encouraged Carlos to set aside his pride and admit his mistakes to his mother. He suggested that repairing their relationship could positively influence Carlos’s public image.
“Dapat matuto siyang mag sorry sa kanyang nanay na mali ang sabihan niya ang kanyang nanay na magnanakaw para gumanda ang kanyang imahen,” Mr. Yulo stated. The post garnered mixed reactions from netizens, who were surprised by Mr. Yulo’s remarks, given his previously positive relationship with Carlos.
Previously, Mark Andrew Yulo stated that if he had taken any of Carlos’ money, the family would not be relying on public transportation or bicycles. He noted that Carlos’ earnings had increased from PHP 6 million to PHP 11 million and emphasized that none of the funds had been misused.
“PHP6 million pa lang yung pera niya, then naging PHP11 million. Hindi naubos yun. Bakit namin nanakawin yan?” Mr. Yulo said. “Kung nasa amin yung pera, sana umalis na kami sa looban. Sana may mga account na kami, may kotse na kami. Wala nga kami, nagko-commute lang kami,” he added.
To recall, Carlos Yulo received substantial rewards and gifts following his two Olympic gold medals. He was awarded PHP 20 million from President Bongbong Marcos, PHP 20 million from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), PHP 14 million from the House of Representatives, and PHP 3 million from Megaworld.
In addition to the cash, Megaworld gave him a three-bedroom condo in McKinley Hills, Taguig. He also received a Tiggo 7 Pro SUV from Chery Auto, which includes insurance and lifetime-free oil changes, and a Land Cruiser Prado from Toyota. The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) confirmed that all these rewards, donations, and gifts are tax-exempt according to the National Internal Revenue Code.
