Magazine Mistakenly Publishes Woman’s Obituary

Woman Shocked by False Obituary

FAYE FINARO – A 39-year-old woman from Nottingham, England, was surprised when a friend informed her that her obituary had been posted in an online magazine. Confirming that she was alive, Faye discovered her name and photo in the “Legacy” section of Mansfield Chad, which included a message urging those who knew her to send flowers to her grieving family.

On September 19, 2024, Faye shared the incident on Facebook along with a screenshot of the obituary. She described receiving a call from her concerned friend asking if she was alive. Faye, who is the founder, director, and CEO of a beauty business school, found humor in the situation. In an interview with local media, she mentioned that many people, including her son, commented on her post, finding it amusing.

After learning about the obituary, Faye promptly reached out to Mansfield Chad. In her message, she explained that two years earlier, a celebration had been submitted to congratulate her on her business launch. She noted that the obituary section seemed to have merged with other sections, erroneously declaring her deceased. Faye requested the removal of the obituary, emphasizing that she was the only person in the world with her name and expressing concern for those who might worry about her due to the false report.

The publication responded quickly, assuring her that the obituary had been removed but that it would still be available on Google and other search engines for 30 days. They requested that Google expedite the removal process.

According to PEP.ph, Faye later shared a screenshot of the publication’s reply in the comments section of her post, humorously captioning it: “Yayyyy I’m alive again.” Despite some commenters noting the lack of an apology from the magazine, Faye brushed it off as “just a minor inconvenience.”
