Raul Dillo: From Basketball Player to Longganisa Vendor
RAUL DILLO – The former basketball player and actor has recently garnered attention for selling longganisa along the highway in Cavite.
Raul, standing at 7 feet 3 inches, is from Masbate and currently lives in Biñan, Laguna, with his wife and two children. His journey began in Manila’s Paco district, where he lived for 15 years before starting a family. Initially, Raul pursued basketball, where his height made him one of the tallest players in the country. However, an injury abruptly ended his athletic career.
Transitioning to the entertainment industry in the 1990s, Raul became well-known for his roles in horror and comedy films, including “Tong Tamal Tamal Kong Pakitong-Kitong,” alongside actors like Redford White and Babalu. His impressive presence led to memorable roles, often portraying giants and mythical creatures, earning him the nickname “Pinoy Frankenstein.”
Raul’s recent notable role was in the television series “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” where he portrayed an armed character, thanks to Coco Martin’s invitation. This opportunity arose when he sought help to revive his showbiz career to support his family. His gratitude was evident when Bernadette Sembrano surprised him with a tricycle, which he found useful for daily tasks like picking up his child from school.
Despite his successes, Raul faced challenges, including health issues and financial struggles that led him to take various jobs, such as selling food and driving a tricycle. Nevertheless, he remains committed to his family and is now exploring content creation to share his story and inspire others while reflecting on his life’s ups and downs.
Recently, he garnered attention for selling longganisa along the highway in Cavite. His daily Facebook posts highlight his new venture, where he promotes his garlic longganisa and shares his experiences selling this popular Filipino sausage. Many fans still recognize him and stop by to purchase from him, leading to an outpouring of support and encouragement from netizens.
