Alice Guo’s Escape from the Philippines Allegedly Involved Former PNP Chief
ALICE GUO ESCAPE – A former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief is reportedly linked to the ex-mayor’s escape from the Philippines, according to a Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) official.
These claims were made during a Senate hearing on illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs). Senator Risa Hontiveros asked about new details regarding Guo’s secret departure from the country in July.
Pagcor’s Security Monitoring Cluster head, Raul Villanueva, mentioned that there were discussions within the intelligence community about the involvement of border immigration officials and a PNP personality. Villanueva, a retired military officer, said, “May pinag-uusapan sa border immigration, hindi ko lang alam ang exact amount [ng bribe], including PNP official [na involved]. Hindi ko lang ma-confirm.”
When Hontiveros asked if a specific PNP unit helped Guo escape, Villanueva clarified that it was not a unit but individual PNP personalities. He noted that there were rumors that a former PNP Chief was involved. “Hindi PNP unit but personalities. I think it was mentioned… a former Chief, PNP,” he said.
According to ABS-CBN News, Villanueva admitted that the intelligence reports are not yet confirmed, but added that the former PNP chief in question was supposedly receiving payments from Guo each month. He said, “‘Yun lang po ang naririnig namin within the intelligence community.”
In response to the allegations, Police Brig. Gen. Raul Tacaca, who represented the PNP at the hearing, said they had not received such intelligence reports. He stressed that the PNP’s intelligence team continues to work with other agencies and assured that if evidence of bribery related to Guo’s escape is found, they will take action.
Alice Guo, who admitted to leaving the Philippines in early July due to unspecified threats, was later arrested in Indonesia. The case has drawn attention due to the alleged involvement of high-ranking officials in her escape.
