Employee Reportedly Dismissed for Feeding a Stray Dog
VHAL SARDIA – A restaurant employee shared his frustration on social media after he was reportedly terminated for feeding a stray dog outside his workplace.
In a Facebook post, Sardia explained that he often fed stray animals during his break time or when off duty. However, a video of him feeding the animals was seen by his supervisor, who then reported the incident to higher management, ultimately leading to his dismissal.
Sardia had been working as a food server for five years and expressed his disappointment in losing his job over this issue. He received a call and text from the restaurant’s human resources department, asking him to submit a handwritten explanation. According to Sardia, the reason for his termination was unsanitary practices, as feeding stray animals near the restaurant could pose health risks.
When Sardia was asked to sign documents regarding his termination, he refused to agree with the reasons stated, which led to a tense situation with HR. He claims that the HR staff became upset and even had another employee close the door and guard it to prevent him from leaving the office.
“May pinapapirma po sa akin na against ako sa nakalagay. So hindi po ako pumirma nagalit yung HR at sabe niya magtatagal daw kami dito sa loob ng office,” he said. “Nagpatawag ng other employee pinasara at pinabantay ang pinto para hindi ako makalabas sa office,” he added.
The incident sparked outrage online, with Sardia’s post gaining thousands of shares. Many netizens expressed their support for him and called for a boycott of the restaurant, identified as Goto Tendon. As of now, the restaurant has not issued any official statement or comment on the matter.
Sardia’s experience has ignited discussions about workplace policies and the consequences of small acts of kindness, like feeding stray animals.
