Carla Abellana Calls Out Pet-Friendly Establishments for Breed Discrimination
CARLA ABELLANA – A well-known advocate for Aspin dogs and pet adoption, expressed her frustration with establishments that falsely advertise themselves as “pet-friendly.”
Carla, who proudly owns an Aspin dog named Fly, shared her support for the Aspin Society Elite, a group led by Heart Evangelista-Escudero’s Aspin dog, Panda. She recounted how Fly and her sibling Wing were rescued by the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), and she adopted them without hesitation, although Wing has since passed away.
In her message, Carla called out establishments that claim to be pet-friendly but actually discriminate based on dog breeds. She urged them to stop advertising that they welcome all pets if they are breed-specific. Her statement followed a viral incident where a customer at the “Balay Dako” restaurant was denied entry for her Aspin dog, Yoda, despite the restaurant’s pet-friendly label.
“Dear establishments, please do not advertise as ‘pet friendly’ if in fact you are breed-particular. Thank you,” she said.
Meanwhile, Carla Abellana is an actress and model. She comes from a family of actors, being the daughter of Rey “PJ” Abellana and the granddaughter of veteran actress Delia Razon. Carla graduated cum laude from De La Salle University with a degree in psychology.
