Netizen Claims Finding a Dead Cockroach in Dish Ordered from Balay Dako
BALAY DAKO – A netizen claimed to have found a dead cockroach in a dish they ordered from the well-known “pet-friendly” restaurant.
In recent days, Balay Dako, a pet-friendly restaurant in Tagaytay City, faced criticism for denying entry to Yoda, an Aspin (Asong Pinoy) owned by Lara Antonio, on September 9, 2024. Antonio expressed her frustration, explaining that although Yoda was initially allowed in with the condition of wearing a diaper, they were later told that Yoda could not enter.
The restaurant staff cited a rule that only medium-sized dogs were allowed, but the explanation was inconsistent. Antonio was told that dogs must weigh between 10 and 15 kg, a restriction not mentioned in the restaurant’s pet policy and which appeared arbitrary.
Confusion grew when the manager claimed that only specific breeds, like Shih Tzus and Labradors, were permitted. This contradicted the weight limit, as Labradors are heavier than 15 kg. Antonio criticized the policy, questioning why larger breeds like Labradors and Golden Retrievers were allowed if the weight restriction was truly enforced.
In response, Balay Dako apologized and stated that they are revising their pet policy for clarity and fairness. They emphasized their commitment to animal welfare while acknowledging the need to ensure guest safety and comfort. The restaurant also promised to improve staff training for better policy enforcement.
This time, the so-called pet-friendly restaurant is facing more controversy after a certain Jojo Valerio claimed to have found a dead cockroach in a dish he ordered. He expressed disappointment, highlighting how serious and unacceptable the situation was, especially for a high-end restaurant. Although the staff were apologetic and waived the bill, Jojo was upset about the health risk and carelessness, emphasizing that such incidents shouldn’t happen in an expensive establishment.
