DILG Secretary Abalos Speaks on Case of Arnie Teves in Timor-Leste
ABALOS – The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary said that the government is now looking forward to getting the custody of Arnie Teves.
Two (2) high-profile individuals with arrest orders are now under the custody of the Philippine authorities. Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder and leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy surrendered to the authorities. The Philippine National Police (PNP) said that it came after a 24-hour ultimatum they issued against the Pastor.
Quiboloy was in hiding for several months. Charges were filed against him not only in the Philippines but as well as abroad. The PNP did intensified search operations at the KOJC compound in Davao City. Their search ops included drilling activities for the possibility that the Pastor is hiding in a bunker.
Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s camp previously said that he has a condition with President Bongbong Marcos for his surrender. It is with regards to his pending cases abroad. Aside from the Pastor, former Davao City Mayor Alice Guo is also in the hands of the Philippine authorities now.
Former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo was arrested in Indonesia and brought home to the Philippines. DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos and Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Rommel Marbil were among those who went to Indonesia for the turn-over of Guo to the Philippine authorities.
Guo reportedly left the Philippines in July amid multiple complaints filed against her. An arrest order was released by the Senate against the former Mayor after she snubbed the hearings set to discuss her alleged involvement in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in her town.
Recently, Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos expressed that they are looking forward to getting the custody of former Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative Arnie Teves. He is currently in Timor-Leste where his extradition case is on process.
Teves is accused of being the mastermind behind the killing of the late former Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo in 2023 and several others. Previously, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that the court in Timor-Leste sided with the Philippine government. However, the camp of Teves said that they filed an appeal for the reversal of the decision.
Based on a report on GMA News, speaking before the crowd in Dubai, DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos expressed his hope that the Philippine government will also be able to get the custody of Arnie Teves. He stressed that he was allegedly the one behind the death of Degamo.
