Student Goes Missing After Classes Were Suspended in Pangasinan Due to Heavy Rain
MISSING – A 15-year-old student, Angeline Zara, has been missing since Monday, September 2, after classes were suspended in Calasiao, Pangasinan, due to heavy downpours.
Angeline’s family reported that she was missing when she failed to return home and could not be reached by phone. Her father, Robeth Balanquit, shared that Angeline had gone to school that morning and requested extra money for a project. However, due to the bad weather conditions, classes were suspended in the afternoon.
CCTV footage from Barangay Doyong shows Angeline leaving school with a classmate around 2:30 p.m. She was later seen taking shelter in a store due to the rain. After that, she and her classmate were seen walking together, but CCTV did not capture them afterward.
Robeth expressed concern over being unable to contact Angeline and noted that it was unusual for her not to inform them of her whereabouts. He expressed hope that she would return home safely and reassured her that if she was upset with them, it was a normal part of being parents who cared for her.
“Sana makauwi siya nang maayos. Kung may tampo siya sa amin, normal lang [‘yon], dahil magulang lang kami na nagmamahal sa kaniya,” Robeth said. According to Balita, the local police in Calasiao have joined the search for Angeline. The family and authorities are actively looking for any leads or information regarding her whereabouts.
