PNP Chief Rommel Marbil Speaks on VP Sara Duterte’s Security Detail
SARA DUTERTE – Philippine National Police chief Rommel Marbil claimed that the Vice President is secured by 358 Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) personnel and 31 Philippine National Police (PNP) cops.
The issue between Vice Pres. Duterte and PNP chief Rommel Marbil has gathered different reactions from the Filipino people. There are those who believed that the Vice President has overly-sufficient security detail while there are those who saw a negative intention on the move of the PNP.
On the recall of the 75 cops assigned for Vice Pres. Duterte’s security, the Philippine National Police reasoned out that it is in line with the pursuit of improving police visibility in the National Capital Region (NCR). The Vice President expressed that Mindanao also lacks sufficient number of cops and some of her security personnel who were recalled were from Davao.
Duterte also said that her trusted PNP cops were among those who were recalled by the Philippine National Police and assigned in the National Capital Region (NCR). Senator Bato dela Rosa recently made a request to police chief Marbil to assign the trusted cops of the Vice President back as her security.
The PNP Chief committed to grant the request of Sen. dela Rosa. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, at the Senate hearing, Marbil said that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is secured by the personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police.
The PNP Chief disclosed that 358 personnel of the AFP secures Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. With regards to PNP cops who are security detail of the Vice President, there are 31 of them left. Marbil also expressed that the PNP is ready to help if asked by the PSC or the Presidential Security Command.
Sen. Bato dela Rosa believes that Vice Pres. Duterte needs high security so he made the request. Based on the report, PNP Chief Rommel Marbil explained that not only the Vice President’s security detail but as well as those of the other government officials were reduced.
Furthermore, the PNP Chief stressed that they don’t see any threat against Duterte. He even stressed that she is loved by the Filipino people.
“Wala po siyang threat, wala po kaming nakita. She’s being loved by our people,” Marbil said.
