DOJ Secretary Boying Remulla Speaks on VP Sara Duterte’s Security Personnel
SARA DUTERTE – Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla claimed that the Vice President still has 320 security personnel despite the recent recall of 75 of her PNP security detail.
One of the controversial issues involving Vice Pres. Duterte was the recall of 75 of her PNP security detail. The Vice President confirmed the relief of some of her security personnel and assured the public that it will not affect her work.
However, a few days after the Vice President confirmed the recall of 75 PNP personnel assigned for her security, Duterte released an open letter for Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Rommel Marbil. She debunked the alleged lies that the PNP Chief has spoken in interviews.
The 4-page open letter of the Vice President denied that the PNP requested the Office of the Vice President over the relief of the 75 PNP personnel assigned for her security. According to Duterte, the OVP was only informed about it and they did not bother to argue.
Duterte also reacted to the claim of Marbil that they don’t see any threat on the life of the Vice President. She recalled the malicious circulation of a video of her taken at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and the alleged police-casing the area where she resides.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte earned criticisms from leaving the Philippines amid the onslaught of Typhoon Carina. According to the OVP, it was a personal trip with her family and it gained the necessary approvals. Her office did not disclose the destination of the Duterte family.
A Manila solon accused Vice Pres. Duterte of using the removal of her PNP security detail to divert the public attention from her trip abroad. The PNP previously denied the claim of the Vice President that there was a police “casing”.
Recently, Department of Justice Secretary Boying Remulla claimed that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte still has 320 security personnel despite the recall of her 75 PNP security detail. Based on a report on GMA News’ Balimtambayan, he does not see it negatively if 75 of the PNP personnel assigned for the Vice President’s security were recalled.
Remulla also claimed that the Vice President has a bigger number of security personnel than the President.
“Meron pa siyang 320 security personnel. I don’t think it’s a bad matter to recall some of the personnel. She still has 300 bodyguards. It’s bigger than the president’s,” the Justice Secretary said.
