ANGELITO CALIDA – A contestant on the Peraphy segment of Eat Bulaga expressed disappointment over disrespectful treatment following his unusual behavior on the show.
Peraphy is a game segment on “Eat Bulaga” that began airing on October 20, 2023. The segment uses oversized cards to test the mental telepathy abilities of a studio audience member or a special celebrity guest, similar to the Philippine version of Card Sharks, Hi-Lo Todo Panalo.
In the standard format, a host selects a contestant who then draws from an oversized deck of cards named after fruits or sour fruits. The contestant must predict whether the next card’s value will be higher or lower over eight rounds, earning cash prizes for correct guesses. If the guess is incorrect, the game continues without any penalty.
The Peraphy Express variant, launched on June 7, 2024, is a faster-paced version with only four rounds. Additionally, a home partner game allows viewers to guess card values via QR codes for a chance to win prizes.
Angelito Calida, a contestant on the segment, gained attention on social media after displaying unusual behavior during the show. In the video, he unexpectedly walked away from the hosts and approached Singing Queen Anne for a hug, prompting concern from the hosts and staff. They swiftly managed the situation, with hosts Vic Sotto, Miles Ocampo, and Ryzza Mae Dizon handling the incident professionally. Netizens praised the hosts for their grace in managing the unexpected situation on live television.
In his post, Angelito expressed feeling disrespected by those who lacked empathy for his situation. He criticized their lack of decency, noting that their actions caused him humiliation and questioning how they would feel in his place.
Despite facing negativity, Angelito thanked his friends and supporters for their support. He reassured them that he is okay, is no longer focusing on negative comments, and wished them all a blessed day. Angelito also shed light on the reasons behind his behavior during the show, explaining that nervousness and prolonged exposure to air conditioning contributed to his actions.
