Nesthy Petecio Shared Her Incentives with Family

NESTHY PETECIO – The 2024 Paris Olympics bronze medalist in women’s boxing, has generously shared the incentives she received with her family, showing how much she cares for them.

When she returned to her hometown in Davao Del Sur, she was warmly welcomed by the local government and her fellow citizens, who celebrated her impressive achievements.

In an interview with PEP’s Cabinet Files, Nesthy talked about her plans for the incentives she received, which include a house and lot, as well as millions of pesos given by the government and various organizations. Instead of keeping these rewards for herself, Nesthy chose to share them with her family, especially her mother and her sibling with Down syndrome, who needs special care. This choice shows how much she values her family and wants to ensure they benefit from her hard work.

Nesthy stressed that everything she does is for her family, saying, “Ang reward ko sa kanila, maliban sa medalya, sa mga premyo na nakukuha ko, isine-share ko sa kanila.” This statement shows her selflessness and how important her family is to her. Additionally, she has decided to give the house and lot she won to her youngest sibling, further proving her commitment to her family’s future.

Looking ahead, Nesthy plans to invest the rest of the incentives in land and properties to have a steady income once she retires from boxing. She is also thinking about starting her own business, though she is being cautious, knowing that handling money wisely is important.

Meanwhile, Nesthy Petecio is an amateur boxer who made history by winning the first Olympic medal in boxing for a Filipino woman with a silver in the 2020 Summer Olympics. She also secured a bronze in the women’s flyweight event at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Additionally, Petecio won silver at the 2014 World Championships and gold at the 2019 edition. She is the first Filipino boxer to win multiple Olympic medals.
