According to their legal counsel, Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque, Nones and Cruz, who hold key writing and creative roles for various GMA programs, are deeply saddened by the criticism they face on social media, despite the lack of proof of their wrongdoing. They emphasize the importance of the proper legal process and plan to respond formally once they receive the complaint.
Garduque’s statement highlighted their intention to address the allegations in the appropriate forum, noting that the claims do not reflect the true events. They also appealed to the public to respect the ongoing investigation and avoid spreading unverified information to prevent unfair public judgment.
Sandro’s father, Niño Muhlach, is currently working on filing the formal complaint and will provide a statement afterward. GMA Network, respecting Sandro’s request for confidentiality, has refrained from releasing details until the investigation is complete, assuring a fair and thorough inquiry.
The controversy began with blind items circulating on July 30, suggesting that a newcomer actor was almost a victim of two powerful individuals from a station during a grand event at a posh hotel. The blind item indicated that the actor’s father had hired a lawyer, and netizens quickly speculated about the involved personalities.
On the evening of July 30, GMA-7 acknowledged the incident involving an artist and two independent contractors, promising action upon receiving a formal complaint. The next day, speculation grew as Niño and his wife, Diane Tupaz, posted emotional messages on social media, hinting at the severity of the incident and expressing their determination to seek justice for their son.
The situation became clearer when GMA released an official statement on August 1, confirming the formal complaint and reiterating their commitment to a fair investigation. Sandro also shared GMA’s statement on his Instagram Story, further bringing attention to the issue.
