HEARTBROKEN – A 24-year-old man, whose heart was broken, appeared older after spending five months in the mountains.
A Chinese man, known only as “Uncle,” has been living in the mountains since his heart was broken. After splitting with his girlfriend, Uncle moved to the mountains to escape depression. Despite being only 24, his appearance suggests he is in his 40s, due to his high hairline and noticeable wrinkles, which has led many to mistake his age.
In a video posted by YouTuber Xiangzi Baby on July 24, 2024, Uncle is shown resting in a small tent on the mountain grounds. His living setup includes basic items like a cart and plastic containers for daily use. Although he is called “Uncle” by those around him, his ID reveals he was born in December 2000.
Uncle, originally from Hebei Province, China, previously worked as a seaman on a freight ship traveling in Southeast Asia. After his breakup, he sought solace in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, believing that hiking would help clear his mind. He began his mountain life in late February 2024, bringing only essential supplies and adopting a stray dog he encountered on his way.
The intense sun exposure over the past five months has accelerated Uncle’s aging. His skin has darkened, and he has experienced premature baldness and loss of facial tightness. Despite growing a beard to protect his face from UV rays, he appears even older.
Uncle frequently shows his ID to prove his true age to skeptical onlookers. Since his videos went viral on Chinese social media, he has attracted significant attention from media, influencers, and curious viewers. Some have advised him to care for his skin and shave to look younger, but Uncle values his peaceful life in the mountains over maintaining a youthful appearance.
