Lady Rider Dubbed as GTA Girl Arrested
GTA GIRL – A 28-year-old businesswoman, Kriszelle Ann Maton Cabo, was arrested during the Ironman 70.3 event in Davao City for violating road closure rules and traffic regulations.
The incident occurred on the morning of August 11, 2024, while the triathlon was underway in Darong, Sta. Cruz, Davao Del Sur. Kriszelle, driving a dark blue Yamaha NMAX motorcycle with the plate number L769DF, breached the exclusive bike lane designated for the event.
Around 8:05 AM, while security personnel were handling an emergency, Kriszelle entered the restricted bike lane through the GTH Crossing, heading towards McArthur Highway. Despite attempts by security officers to stop her, she accelerated and ignored their commands, continuing southbound. The Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) nearby chased her, issuing warnings to stop, but she disregarded them.
After a brief pursuit, Kriszelle was intercepted at the corner of the national highway near Aplaya de Obosa in Brgy. Darong, Sta. Cruz. She was detained at the Toril Police Station, where she faces multiple charges, including violations of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, RA 4136 (Traffic Code), and RA 10054 (Helmet Law). Additional charges include driving without a license, failure to wear a helmet, counterflow, unsafe driving, and not presenting her OR/CR (Official Receipt/Certificate of Registration).
The Davao City Police Office, led by PMAJ Bautista, praised the swift response of security personnel, noting that no participants were harmed during the incident. They emphasized their commitment to maintaining safety and order, especially during significant events like the Kadayawan Festival, and warned that violators would face appropriate consequences.
Meanwhile, netizens have dubbed Kriszelle as “GTA Girl” or “Real Life GTA.” The “Grand Theft Auto” (GTA) series is a popular video game franchise developed by Rockstar Games. The series is known for its open-world gameplay, allowing players to explore detailed virtual cities and engage in various activities, including missions, driving, and interactions with non-playable characters (NPCs).
