Originally an ordinary vendor selling “Pares Overload” in Pasay City, Diwata’s food became popular for its taste and affordability, drawing large crowds. This popularity led to him being noticed by the casting team of “Batang Quiapo,” who recommended him to Director Coco Martin. As a result, Diwata was given the opportunity to join the show, playing a vendor serving the main characters, Tanggol (played by Coco Martin) and Bubbles (played by Ivana Alawi).
In the show, Diwata’s character experiences a setback when he is robbed of his capital, prompting Bubbles to help him by offering work at her grandmother’s eatery. This storyline helped establish Diwata’s character and popularity, leading to a surge in fans wanting to take photos with him at his pares stall in Pasay City. His sudden fame also attracted attention from well-known beauty product owners, who began giving him various items to help improve his life.
However, Diwata is no longer part of “Batang Quiapo,” likely due to the departure of Ivana Alawi’s character, which may have led to his own character being written out of the show. Despite his absence from the series, Diwata continues to draw attention, but now it’s largely negative.
Many netizens have voiced their disappointment, claiming that Diwata has become snobbish and no longer engages with fans as he once did. Reports suggest that he no longer smiles or acknowledges those who want to take photos with him.
