BINI Gwen Urges Fans to Respect Privacy After Door-Knocking Incidents

Gwen Apuli of BINI Asks Fans to Respect Privacy

GWEN APULI – The member of BINI has requested that fans respect their privacy and personal space, following incidents where fans knocked on their doors asking for photos.

On August 14, the P-pop star took to her X account to express her frustration and remind fans of their boundaries. She stated, “Nakakalungkot, palala na [nang] palala,” and emphasized the need for respect for personal time.

Gwen explained that while they appreciate their fans’ support and make an effort to accommodate photo requests, their personal space must be respected. “Please not to the point you’ll go knock [on] our rooms just for [a] picture. Thank you,” she added.

In July, BINI members Maloi Ricalde and Aiah Arceta expressed similar concerns about privacy and rest. Maloi emphasized the need for rest, while Aiah reiterated the importance of personal time and space. She highlighted that while they appreciate their supporters, having time to recharge is crucial for maintaining their energy and positive spirit, which benefits everyone.

Aiah also thanked fans who respect their space and are courteous when asking for photos. The group’s manager, Star Magic Head Laurenti Dyogi, had earlier called on fans to respect the members’ privacy following uncomfortable public encounters during their break after sold-out concerts in June.

Meanwhile, BINI is a prominent Filipino girl group formed in 2019 through ABS-CBN’s Star Hunt Academy. Originally known as Star Hunt Academy Girls (SHA Girls), the group debuted as BINI on June 11, 2021, with their single “Born to Win.” The name “BINI” is derived from the Tagalog word binibini, meaning “young lady,” reflecting the group’s modern Filipina identity.

Consisting of eight members – Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena—BINI quickly made a mark in the Philippine music scene. They gained widespread recognition for their energetic performances and catchy music that blends P-pop with elements of bubblegum pop, teen pop, and EDM. Their pre-debut single “Da Coconut Nut” was an electropop remake of a classic Filipino song, setting the stage for their debut success.
