BINI Concert at Araneta Questioned for Ticket Prices Higher Than K-Pop Groups

Netizens Question the Ticket Prices for the BINI Concert at Araneta

BINI – The upcoming concert of the “Nation’s Girl Group” at the Araneta Coliseum on November 16 and 17, 2024, has stirred controversy over its ticket prices.

Promotional materials from ABS-CBN reveal that tickets for the “Grand BINIverse” concert range from PHP 1,387 to PHP 11,195. For an additional PHP 1,387, VIP and Patron ticket holders can access a sound check.

The pricing has faced criticism from netizens who find it unusually high compared to K-Pop concerts. Comments on social media highlight concerns that BINI’s ticket prices are approaching those of major K-Pop groups like Blackpink, despite the concert being held in Quezon City with minimal logistical costs. Some fans pointed out that K-Pop concerts in Korea typically cost around PHP 8,000, questioning the rationale behind the high prices for a P-pop event.

Critics also argue that BINI, marketed as a group for the masses and particularly targeting students, should have more affordable ticket options. They expressed frustration with the perceived high costs, suggesting that the production quality and merchandise need improvement before justifying such prices. The sentiment is that fans feel exploited and that the pricing strategy does not align with the group’s intended audience.

ABS-CBN has yet to address these concerns or provide a response to the backlash from BINI fans regarding the ticket prices.

Meanwhile, BINI is a prominent Filipino girl group formed in 2019 through ABS-CBN’s Star Hunt Academy. Originally known as Star Hunt Academy Girls (SHA Girls), the group debuted as BINI on June 11, 2021, with their single “Born to Win.” The name “BINI” is derived from the Tagalog word binibini, meaning “young lady,” reflecting the group’s modern Filipina identity.

Consisting of eight members—Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena—BINI quickly made a mark in the Philippine music scene. They gained widespread recognition for their energetic performances and catchy music that blends P-pop with elements of bubblegum pop, teen pop, and EDM. Their pre-debut single “Da Coconut Nut” was an electropop remake of a classic Filipino song, setting the stage for their debut success.
