Sen. Bato dela Rosa Believes VP Sara Duterte Must Be Highly-Secured
BATO DELA ROSA – The Senator requested PNP chief Rommel Marbil to assign the trusted cops of Vice President Sara Duterte back as her security detail.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and the Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Rommel Marbil were recently involved in an issue. It started after the PNP relieved 75 cops who were assigned for the security of Vice Pres. Duterte. Marbil said that it is in line with the pursuit of increasing police visibility in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Vice Pres. Duterte assured the public that the relief of some of her security detail will not affect her work. However, after a few days, it was followed by Duterte releasing an “open letter” for PNP chief Rommel Marbil. She denied the claims of the police chief.
According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, it is not true that the Philippine National Police requested the Office of the Vice President for the recall of some of her security detail. She claimed that the OVP was only informed by the PNP. She also downplayed the statement of PNP chief Rommel Marbil that they seen no threat on the safety of the Vice President.
Duterte claimed that there was a police “casing” in their place of residence and the officials of the subdivision where they resided were there to stop the cops from entry. She also recalled that a video of her at NAIA maliciously circulated online.
The Vice President claimed that the cops who were relieved included her most trusted men. She stressed that Mindanao also lacks a sufficient number of cops and some of her security personnel from Davao were re-assigned to NCR.
Senator Bato dela Rosa previously called for the security of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The Vice President thanked her allies and her supporters assuring them that they should not worry about her. Duterte appealed for the security of her family instead.
Recently, in a Senate hearing, Sen. Bato dela Rosa requested PNP chief Rommel Marbil to re-assign those cops from Davao who were recently recalled back as security detail of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a report on GMA News, the lawmaker said that the PNP does not have to return all the 75 cops relieved as security detail of the Vice President.
“Ibalik mo lang mga taga-Davao na palagay ang kalooban niya [Vice Pres. Duterte],” dela Rosa said.
Based on the report, PNP chief Marbil committed to the request of Sen. Bato dela Rosa. Currently, there are 31 cops left for the security of the Vice President.
